Police rule out doubts in Indonesian maid's death

The police ruled out the doubts raised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) representative for Malaysia, Hermono, in the the murder and suicide case involving an Indonesian maid and two children in Taman Sri Putra, Sungai Buloh on Tuesday.
Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Junaidi Bujang said the autopsy conducted by the Sungai Buloh Hospital on Tuesday night, confirmed that the injuries suffered by the maid and the two children were consistent with the act of murder and suicide.
"The bloodstains found at the scene were also very consistent with suicide. In fact, the hospital authorities have also confirmed that the 30-year-old maid, had suffered three wounds on the right side of her neck during her first attempt to commit suicide because there were stab marks on the front of her body," he said.
It was reported that the maid had committed suicide by slashing her own throat after killing both her employer’s children, Koay Jia Hong, 5, and his half-brother, Melvin Selvan Joseph, 18 months.
"During the incident, the three of them were alone in the house as the employer had gone out for dinner. There were no sign of burglary as the house was locked and her employer only noticed something was amiss when their four Rottweiler dogs were still not put in their kennel," he added.
The maid known as Agnes is said to have originated from the Flores Island and said to be quiet and mingled well with the neighbours.
Her relationship with her employer was also good as she can converse in Mandarin.
"No physical injuries were found on the victim's body besides the injuries which occurred during the incident on Tuesday. So, it is unlikely for her to be abused by her employer".
Agnes is said to have entered the country illegally and was taken as a maid by her employer about a year ago.
The police and the Indonesian embassy here are still trying to trace Agnes’s family in Indonesia.
Hermono had told Tempo that there were several issues that raised doubts in the suicide-murder case.
He said there must have been an incident which would have triggered Agnes to act in such a manner as she has been said to enjoy good relationship with her employers.
He had said that since there were no signs of break in, Agnes was not necessarily the killer as there are nine people living in the house.
"The third doubt is, the way Agnes commited suicide, it is not possible to cut one's own throat because it is quite awkward and ridiculous, “he added.
