The police’s regular patrols in popular spots in the city have increased public confidence on the country’s safety.
Astro AWANI’s visit to several busy locations in the city, showed that the police have not only increased their patrolling, but policemen and the police dog (K-9) unit have also been stationed at the places.
A visitor from Sabah, Nazirah Mohd Rosli said the police’s presence at popular shopping complex, Pavillion, was perplexing.
“When I first saw the dog, I got scared. However, with such tight security from the authorities, I feel safer,” she said.
For Rabi’ah Mustaffa, a private sector employee, the presence of the police has increased her confidence in the safety aspects of places such as the ‘Golden Triangle’ which has always been a popular spot among the locals and tourists.
Another private sector employee, Syafiq Ridzwan said lately, he is anxious about the bombing incidents around the world and it didn’t help that the latest incident happened so close to home.
He said so when referring to the bombing incident in Jakarta, Indonesia, last week.
“Yes, I am worried with the happening in Jakarta. I am afraid that the same thing might happen here.
“But I feel safer when I see more policemen patrolling popular spots because we know many local visitors and tourists come here,” he told Astro AWANI when met in KLCC.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said there will be increased police and military presence in public and tourist areas to assure the people of their safety, which is among the decisions made by the National Security Council meeting.
