Police urges public not to believe story about riot in Kuala Selangor

Selangor CID chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said investigations found inaccurate information on the incident had been spread widely on social media since yesterday.

"The public should not immediately believe and be influenced by stories on the social media on the incident," he told a media conference at the Kuala Selangor District Police Headquarters here, today.

He said a commotion took place at 7.30 pm (Sept 11) after the woman, identified as Norjunaidah Sahak, was killed when her motorcycle went out of control and hit the concrete wall of a drain at Km41 Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan at the entrance junction to Taman Assam Jawa, here.

"The victim was heading to her house in Kuala Selangor from Shah Alam when the accident happened.

"Preliminary investigations found the mishap took place when the victim tried to avoid a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old man," he said.

He said that the man contacted 999 on the accident before stopping at a nearby restaurant.

A few minutes later, he said, a group of men aproached the man and an argument ensued but they were dispersed by two policemen.

Later a tussle took place between the police and the group of men when the police were taking the man to the patrol car, resulting in a policeman being slightly hurt, he said.

"A 29-year-old man who was recording the incident was also assaulted by the group before being rescued by the police," he added.
