MELAKA: Police personnel will be deployed to monitor standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance at all 70 Ramadan bazaars in Melaka.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said apart from the police, he had also instructed the deployment of local authorities (PBT) and the Melaka State Health Department (JKN) personnel who have been authorised to issue compounds to those who do not comply with the SOP, at the bazaars.
"Organisers and traders are found to have complied with the SOP set by the government, but despite wearing face masks and checking in via the MySejahtera application, there are still many visitors who fail to adhere to the physical distancing rules," he said.
He said this when met by reporters at the Santuni Kasih Permata Hati programme, held in conjunction with the 18th Anniversary Celebration of Melaka Historic City at the Melaka Hospital, here, today.
Sulaiman said the state government would not hesitate to cancel the Ramadan bazaars if there was an increase in COVID-19 cases in Melaka, in line with the National Security Council's recommendations.
