Poll: Name change could cause the loss of cultural identity?
Kuala Lumpur residents and businesses are divided over a proposed name change of a well known area in the city. The name does not sit well with former Balik Pulau MP Yusmadi Yusoff who said the move could cause the younger generation to lose a sense of their cultural identity, especially for the Malays.
He added, culture plays a number of pivotal roles in the development process.
Therefore, as a resident of Kampung Pantai Dalam, he urged the leaders to take this as a serious matter and to submit a proper guideline.
It was reported that Kampung Pantai Dalam will change its name to Pantai Sentral following several transformation and development projects around the area.
