The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) had recently ordered to close Pudu Sentral and Hentian Duta and re-route all express busses to the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).
But is the move practical?
Several express bus operators are against the order, adding that it was not beneficial to them or the people especially those who want to travel to the north.
Express bus operator, Abu Hasan Awang said it was not rational for those who want to travel up to north to head to TBS and then use back the same route to get to their destination.
He said for example, a bus fare to Kuala Perlis is RM49 and a taxi fare to get to TBS is RM40. The total amount for a person to go and come back from Kuala Perlis will be RM178.
He said the amount was too high especially at times when the people are struggling with price hikes.
He argued that Hentian Duta should be maintained as its surrounding areas like Damansara, Kepong and Segambut are strategic locations when heading towards north.
He said Medan Gopeng is still in operation despite moving to Aman Jaya while Seri Maju and Medan Kid are also still operating at their old premises.
So, is it a good idea to close down Pudu Sentral and Hentian Duta and re-route all express buses to TBS?
