Poll: Should the bursting of fireworks be banned, will this affect tradition and mood?
With the Chinese New Year being celebrated today, the tradition of setting off firecrackers is a must. In terms of tradition, the sound of firecrackers would help ward off ghosts and evil spirits.
The setting off firecrackers is also found during other festivities in Malaysia. However, there are many reports of injuries among kids every year. The police and custom official are also on the lookout for firecrackers sold illegally.
