Poll: Will NAP result in cheaper vehicles?
The launch of the new National Automotive Policy (NAP) today is expected to strengthen and help create a clear direction for the country’s automotive industry which is said to be not competitive enough.
The policy which was first introduced in 2006 and later revised in 2009 was aimed at creating a more competitive automotive industry.
Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Automotive Institute, Mohamad Madani Sahari who was earlier interviewed by Astro AWANI, said the automotive industry is currently moving towards making Malaysia a hub for Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV).
This is vital in helping the government’s aim of reducing carbon emission by 40% by the year 2020.
Apart from that, other aspects such as the mandatory scrapping of cars and the people' dependence on vehicles are also expected to be addressed in the new policy.
The question now is, will the prices of cars be cheaper with the launch of this new policy?
What is your opinion?
