The air quality in Port Klang, Selangor recorded a moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) of 91 at 2 pm Sunday, which was approaching the unhealthy API (between 101 and 200).

According to the website of the Department of Environment (DoE), 41 other areas which recorded moderate API included Shah Alam and Melaka City (90 respectively); Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (89); Banting (88); Bukit Rambai (87); Seremban (83); Cheras, Kuala Lumpur and Port Dickson (82 respectively).

Other areas recording within the same category of API included Samarahan (79); Putrajaya and Nilai (78 respectively); Petaling Jaya (75); Kemaman and Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani (72 respectively).

Meanwhile, 11 other areas with a majority of them being in Sabah and Sarawak recorded healthy API readings of between 23 and 46.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
