Pos Malaysia Bhd has suspended its postal services and retail operations at Mount Kinabalu due to the aftermath of the recent earthquake, it said in a media statement today.
The suspension is also to pay homage to the mountain guides that perished in the tragic incident.
"It said this was also in accordance with Sabah state government’s announcement on June 6, 2015 that climbing activities at the mountain had been suspended for three weeks and the trail has been closed," it said in the statement.
"We at Pos Malaysia would like to take this opportunity to convey our deepest condolences to the victims' families," the statement read.
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun had announced that the climbing activities at Mount Kinabalu has been suspended for three weeks, beginning Saturday.
He had said this was because the mountain-climbing trail to the summit had been badly damaged by the 6.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Ranau at 7.15am, Friday.
