Post mortem report on tahfiz student likely to be ready in two weeks

State Health, Environment, Education and Information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the hospital needed to conduct thorough study over the issues and physical marks found on the body of the 11-year-old tahfiz student.

"It will take a little time, maybe in two weeks and ,even then, depending on the willingness of the hospitals, the police and others to expedite the process.

"As mentioned yesterday, before the post-mortem was performed, the doctor talked to the parents, asked about the police investigation and consulted the doctor in charge of the boy on the existing medical records," he said.

Meanwhile, in Melaka, Health Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Hilmi Yahaya assured that the Health Ministry would try to expedite the post-mortem report on the cause of death of Mohamad Tahqif Amin as it had become a high profile case apart from the attention from the public.

He said they were doing their best so that further action could be taken immediately.

"The post-mortem report is still in progress and we have not got any information yet," he told reporters after officiating the national level Scientific conference and third Medical Laboratory Technician Day celebration here, today.

He said this when asked to comment on the call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday on his official Facebook page that he wanted the probe into the death of the 11-year-old tahfiz student expedited.

Hilmi also said the government-owned and private schools were required to exercise stringent health check and the background of an individual, especially those who would be hired as an educator.
