Power outage issue viewed seriously - Sarawak Energy Berhad

The Sarawak Energy Berhad has assured the people it will continue to take the issue of power outage seriously.
Its group chief executive officer, Datuk Torstein Dale Sjotveit said this in a joint statement with Syarikat SESCO Berhad subsidiary chief executive officer Lu Yew Hung CEO.
"Our focus is to enhance the reliability of power supply across the state by completing the critical parts of the 500KV Backbone Transmission project in the second quarter of this year.
"This will improve system reliability and avoid the recurrence of major outages such as this," said the statement today.
According to them, the second transmission backbone would ensure that the system was better secured by having four circuits as compared to the two circuits of the existing 275KV Transmission lines.
Meanwhile, the statement said the circuit tripping yesterday, beginning at 6.38pm and lasting for a feW hours here, Sibu and Mukah occurred on Kemena to Selangau stretch, one of the oldest stretches of the existing 275KV transmission system.
