Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) is making its final preparations before the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Makkah Metro begins operating on Monday.
Currently, maintenance work on the station’s facilities and outdoor infrastructure which includes cleaning and replacing defective parts are being conducted by Prasarana.
“Prasarana’s job scope is not only to oversee the trains operation and maintenance alone, but also station facilities such as lifts, toilets, platforms and floodlight.
“The pilgrims comfort and safety is our priority,” said Prasarana’s Head of Facility Maintenance and Administration Department, Ishak Jahari in a statement today.
Prasarana has accommodated 82 staffs in all of its nine stations to ensure that its facility maintenance work is completed on schedule.
This is to ensure a smooth and comfortable 350,000 pilgrims from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia that would use the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah rail services for seven days.
Among the challenges faced by the officers were longer working period following the recent Mecca storm incident.
The storm on September 11 had caused trees to fall damaging facilities to lights and drains.
