SERDANG: In appreciation of the sacrifices and service of the frontliners in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) took the initiative to provide "Sahur" (pre-dawn meal during Ramadan) for members of the police force and hospital staff.
The "Singgah Sahur Bersama Frontliners' programme, carried out in the Klang Valley yesterday with food delivered using RapidKL buses, was also carried out in Penang using the Rapid Penang buses.
Prasarana chief executive officer Muhammad Yazurin Sallij said the programme was carried out not only to seek the blessings of giving alms during Ramadan, but also to inspire the frontliners to continue their efforts to fight the pandemic.
"This is in support of the Kongsi Rezeki initiative. More importantly, it is to meet the frontliners to show our appreciation to them," he told reporters early today after delivering food for "sahur" to frontliners at police stations in the Kajang district and the staff at Serdang General Hospital.
Prasarana will continue the programme late today for firefighters at the Hang Tuah, Sri Hartamas and Sentul fire and rescue stations, as well as several locations in Penang.
Meanwhile, Serdang Hospital deputy director (Management) Nur Aiena Othman, in thanking Prasarana, said, it was an apt move as the staff at the hospital had problems getting for their sahur, especially when they were on duty.
"There is no premises selling food for sahur here and they have to make do with just biscuits and bread," she added.
Prasarana's other programmes to support the government's #KongsiRezeki initiative include the Rapid KL Support Lokal 2.0 campaign launched last April 9 to help food vendors along the RapidKL transport line and online entrepreneurs, as well as the Ramadan Bazaar at selected LRT stations.
