MACC had visited its headquarters this morning to investigate some negative news related to the Finance Ministry-owned company.
KUALA LUMPUR: Public transport operator Prasarana Malaysia Berhad yesterday confirmed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had visited its headquarters this morning to investigate some negative news related to the Finance Ministry-owned company, recently.
Stressing that it was not a raid, Prasarana Deputy Head of Communications and Marketing Officer Rafizah Amran said she was there when the MACC officer arrived at the headquarters located in Bangsar to conduct document inspections.
"We are pleased to assist them in the investigation and we will give full co-operation, at this point no one was arrested, no laptop or phone and so on were seized.
"Like I said it was just a probe, there were a few documents they asked to take back because they need time to go through them," she said at a press conference on issues related to Prasarana at the company's headquarters, here yesterday.
The press conference was held by Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman and was also attended by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad Group Chief Operations Officer Datin Norlia Noah and senior Prasarana officials to respond to previous media portal reports claiming that Tajuddin used his authority to change some things in the company.
Among other things, the media report claimed that Tajuddin was trying to terminate the Latitude 8 contract worth RM1.2 billion, which is a multi-purpose commercial construction project near the Dang Wangi LRT station in Kuala Lumpur to enable Prasarana to play a bigger role in the project and eventually relocate its office there.
Prasarana owns and operates the country’s urban rail services that include three LRT networks and the KL Monorail, in addition to operating the MRT line, besides also owning and operating the stage bus services in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Perak and Pahang.
