KUALA LUMPUR:The prices of several Gardenia flavoured breads will be increased between five and 20 sen starting today (Dec 1).
Gardenia Bakeries Sdn Bhd (GBKL) in a statement yesterday said the increase was due to rising prices of raw materials such as vegetable fat, cocoa powder and milk as well as packaging cost.
“Previously, GBKL managed to absorb these costs but now we have no other alternative but to revise the prices of selected Gardenia products,” it said.
The selected products include Gardenia Squiggles - Funky Strawberry and Choco Malto; Delicia Soft Roll - Butter Toffee; Delicia Sambal Bilis; Fluffy Bun Red Bean; Toast'em Butter Raisin; Delicia Butterscotch, Choco Raisin and Raspberry Milk and Cranberries.
It said the prices for other Gardenia products would remain unchanged as GBKL would continue to absorb the additional costs.
GBKL said that the company has been experiencing a significant increase in manufacturing and raw material costs for the past few years which was beyond its control.
“Increasing the prices is the last resort after all measures have been taken and our focus now is to optimise productivity and efficiency in our factories,” it said.
