14 items has been listed under the Price Control Scheme for Deepavali.
The Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry has listed 14 items under the Price Control Scheme for Deepavali on Wednesday.
Minister, Hasan Malek said the scheme was implemented under the Price Control Act and Anti-Profiteering 2011 from Oct 18 to 27.
He said the items were live chicken, standard chicken, super chicken, local boned mutton, imported boned sheep meat, boneless imported sheep meat and boned imported sheep thigh.
"The other items are chicken egg grade A, B and C, tomato, shallots from India, potato from China and dhal peas from Australia
"The enforcement of the Price Control Scheme is to prevent profiteering and ensure adequate supply," he told a media conference here today.
Hasan said the maximum prices for the items had been decided in 89 districts in the Peninsula, 32 districts in Sarawak, 27 districts in Sabah and one district at the Labuan Federal Territory.
He said traders must sell the items at not more than the maximum prices set, and use pink price tags for them.
"The price tag should be clear, easy to read, using units of measurement or weights which had been determined and displaying the right price, and are not misleading," he said.
Hasan said complaints against traders who did not comply with the law over the scheme could be channelled to the ministry via toll-free line 1800-886-800 or at any ministry office nationwide.
