Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the price of a houses under the People's Housing Project (PPR) will be maintained to ensure the target group can own homes.
The Prime Minister said this in his Twitter account to comment on a news report on the government's move not to raise the price of houses under the PPR.
Yesterday, Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan said although the current price of PPR house was at the old rate, the government, for the time being, would continue to retain the price.
He said the move was in line with the government's aspiration to help the low income group own homes.
In an earlier tweet today, Najib said achievements like that by Siti Hawa Apandi proved that physical disability was no barrier in achieving dreams.
The tweet also attached a link to an article titled 'Award-Winning Student: She proves being wheelchair-bound is not a barrier to earning a degree.'
Siti Hawa, who has spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disorder that weakens and damages muscle functions, received a degree in computer science at Universiti Malaysia Pahang's convocation last Saturday.
She was also the recipient of the Heitech Industry Excellence Award, given to outstanding students from the computer science faculty.
