A prisoner who is serving his five years' jail sentence for Daish militant-related offences, was sentenced to another five years' imprisonment for having posted Daish-related materials on his Facebook page, last March.
High Court Judge Datuk Mohd Sofian Abd Razak meted the sentence to Mohammad Sabri Mat Zain, 46, after he pleaded guilty to posting the materials on his Facebook page under the name 'Pecula Naga'.
He was charged under Section 130JB (1)(b) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years and fine, if convicted.
The court also ordered Mohammad Sabri to serve the sentence from today.
The former silat teacher in Kelantan committed the offence at his home at Lot 2975, Kampung Batu 7, Telok Kandis Salor, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, between 7.55 am and 1.20 pm on March 21, the same day he was arrested for committing the two other Daesh-related offences.
In mitigation, the accused who was clad in red prisoner shirt and unrepresented, requested for a lighter punishment as he had repented and regretted his wrongdoings.
However, deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Fadzlan Mohd Noor pressed for appropriate punishment.
According to the facts of the case, a team of policemen raided the premises and arrested the accused and inspection on his mobile phone found that he had posted Daesh-related materials on his Facebook page.
On April 11, the man was sentenced to five years' jail and six strokes of the rotan by the Kota Bharu Sessions Court after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of a hand grenade and two bullets at his home in Telok Kandis Salor, Kelantan.
The court ordered the man to serve the jail sentence for the two offences from the date of his arrest on March 21. - BERNAMA
