Probe ongoing into cases of PGA members who shot themselves dead

PGA Internal Security and Public Order department deputy director Datuk Mastor Mohd Ariff said the cases are being investigated by the police's Crime Investigation Departments of the respective states.

"Based on our own investigations, we found no issue that could lead to the incidents. If there was other issues faced by the personnel (prior to the incidents), our Integrity and Standard Compliance Department would have assisted in terms of providing advice and counselling," he told reporters after a working visit to the PGA 3rd Battalion in Bidor, here, today.

In the July 19 incident, a PGA personnel was killed after he was believed to have shot himself at 9.25 pm, at the Pantai Remis Police Barracks in Lumut.

It is understood that the victim who was attached with the Senoi Praaq 18th Battalion, Pangkalan Hulu, and involved in the 'Op Benteng COVID-19' in Manjung, had shot himself to the head using an M14 rifle.

He was taken to Seri Manjung Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10.30 pm.

Meanwhile, on Aug 7, Muhammad Aslam Ahmad, 31, died in the break room of the Tupah PGA training camp in Bedong in an incident at 5.10 am. He was believed to have accidentally shot himself.

Before the incident at 4.30 am, the victim had gone to the guard room and ordered two members on duty to bring equipment and weapons to the break room for inspection.
