Probe into topless tourists sunbathing on Sabah island ongoing
A file photo of a beach. The Sabah Parks authority has been urged to distribute flyers to all travel agents to advice tourists to be culturally sensitive when going to public beaches, especially in the presence of children.
Sabah Parks authority is in the midst of investigating a news report on two female tourists sunbathing topless on the beach of Sulug Island in the presence of children and beach-goers recently.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Masidi Manjun said the result of the investigation was expected to be known soon.
"The island is quite secluded and does not have proper facilities as other resort islands. So, I'm curious how tourists can get there and things like this can happen," he said in response to the report.
Masidi was met after launching the Facebook page for '5R Hidupan Liar' and the public awareness and educational programme organised by Sabah Wildlife Department here Friday.
Masidi also called on Sabah Parks authority to distribute flyers to all travel agents to advice tourists to be culturally sensitive when going to public beaches, especially in the presence of children.
