Prominent preacher Ismail Kamus buried in Taman Lembah Keramat

Prominent Islamic preacher, Datuk Ismail Kamus, who died at 12.30 am today, was buried at the AU4 Muslim Cemetery in Taman Lembah Keramat here.
Prior to that, the body was brought to the As-Sobirin Mosque in Lembah Keramat at about 10 am for the funeral prayer, which was led by Minister of Environment and Water, Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, who is also Pas vice-president.
Tuan Ibrahim, when met by reporters, advised those who could not attend the funeral prayer because of the Conditional Movement Control Order (MCO) to perform the “solat jenazah ghaib” (funeral prayer in absence of the dead) at their respective places.
“I I believe that friends in Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, some places in Europe and the United States, who received information (on Ismail’s death), they too will perform the ‘solat ghaib’,” he added.
Tuan Ibrahim said he had a “very long' personal experience” with the preacher and regarded his death as a big loss to the Muslim community.
Meanwhile, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, who was Ismail’s student in Islamic medicine at Darussalam, admitted to feeling lost with the passing of his teacher.
Ismail, 72, a Pas veteran, was admitted to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on April 26 and on the same day, transferred to the Intensive care Unit (ICU) due to lung infection.
In May last year, the preacher, also the founder of of the Malaysian DarusSalam Islamic Medical Association, underwent heart surgery at the National Heart Institute.
Born on Dec 2, 1948 in Kampung Batang Rening, Ulu Selangor, Ismail was Gombak Setia State Assemblyman for one term, from 1999 to 2004, and a former member of the Pas Central Committee. - BERNAMA
