Promoter-to-be gets jail, fine for stealing toothpaste
Magistrate Mohd Faizal Ismail ordered Shahrul Izwandy to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest on May 29.
Wonder what made a 22-year-old man about to take up a job as a promoter to steal 14 packs of toothpaste?
It may have been to sport a better smile, perhaps, but the Magistrate's Court was not amused.
The court sentenced Shahrul Izwandy Mazlan to three days jail and fined him RM1,000 in default 10 days jail after he pleaded guilty to stealing the toothpaste worth RM161 from Sam's Groceria here last Sunday.
Magistrate Mohd Faizal Ismail ordered Shahrul Izwandy to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest on May 29.
DPP Farah Aimy Zainul Anwar asked the court to impose a deterrent sentence but counsel Zulkifli Awang said his client was starting work as a promoter tomorrow and was from a poor family.
