Property scandal: Johor exco remanded one week to assist probe

A Johor Exco member has been remanded for one week beginning today to assist investigations into alleged corruption and property misappropriation in the state.
The man, aged 51 years old, was detained at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office yesterday after giving his statement.
Johor Bahru High Court senior assistant registrar Nur Sulehan Abd Rahman allowed MACC's application to remand the man until March 16.
The Exco had been on leave from official duties since March 1.
MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operation) Datuk Azam Baki yesterday told Bernama when contacted that the Exco was held to facilitate an investigation related to money laundering.
MACC also seized 150 handbags, a Toyota Vellfire and RM41,000 from the man's home.
The agency detained six men including a special officer and the Exco's son on Feb 24, and a contractor on Feb 28.
Two developers and the contractor were released on MACC bail on March 3 and March 7 respectively, while the rest were released yesterday. -- Bernama
