Protect integrity of our institutions

1. Often when a politician gets charged in court, they allege that they have been politically victimised.

2. Objectively we don’t know because this matter has never been subjected to any investigation or referred to a Royal Commission of Inquiry .

3: But what concerns me is this: - why have we never taken the step to once and for all verify if it’s true or not?

4. If it’s true, it means that our justice system is corrupt and grossly flawed. If politicians can be persecuted, as is often alleged, then what chance do the ordinary citizens have? Hence this matter MUST be investigated.

5. Even Anwar Ibrahim has alleged before that he suffered a “travesty of justice”. No investigations until today.

6. On the other hand, if these allegations are not true, why are no actions taken against those who hurl such allegations ?

7. Either way we must understand that such serious allegations have massive ramifications on the image of the country and its institutions. Internationally, we will look like third world countries where investors may be scared to invest.

8. Locally, the public will lose confidence in all the enforcement agencies, judiciary and the investigative and prosecution agencies like MACC, AGC and so on.

9. A responsible government must look into these allegations seriously and bring about a closure.

We have to protect our National institutions and ensure that they are of the highest integrity.
