Khairy said he is proud of the Malaysian team despite the loss
Although Malaysia lost in the Thomas Cup 2014 competition, the team played very well, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said.

"We lost. But I am proud of the Malaysian team. They fought all the way. They fought with the Jalur Gemilang on their jerseys. For us," Khairy tweeted.

"And congratulations to Japan. They announce to the world that there's a new power in badminton. Well-balanced team."

The national badminton squad lost to Japan 2-3 at the Siri Fort Indoor Stadium, here, today.

Khairy also tweeted that the Malaysian team captain, Daren Liew who lost the deciding match, was in tears at the end.

"But we all told him he did great. To fight all the way like that. Like a captain."
