All agencies in the state involved in organising short-term skills courses have been urged to provide the relevant courses to open more job opportunities for youth.
Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said the courses should be truly beneficial to the youth, especially in helping to increase their income.
"Create courses that are relevant, and have broad employment opportunities. The organisers should also do a follow-up to make sure the youth who participate in the courses are not just sitting at home," he said.
He was speaking during the closing ceremony of a basic electrical course and security briefing organised by MARA and the Eastern Sabah Security Command here Saturday.
Earlier in his speech at the Tawau Fishermen's Association Annual General Meeting, Tawfiq encouraged university graduates to venture into fisheries.
