The Public Service Department (PSD) has been urged to be more selective in recruiting civil servants, especially those who will be in the front line.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said other than the need to be dynamic and to have integrity, those selected must be in good physical condition to perform their duties.
"If possible, select those below 80 kg...meaning, they are fit, healthy, active and always ready to implement the policies and programmes outlined by the government," he said.
Earlier, Shahidan chaired a joint meeting with PSD director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal and its top management.
He said selecting those who met the required conditions would boost public confidence in the civil service.
Without detailing the service categories, Shahidan said an appearance which suited the task to be carried out would also inspire the public to look after their own image.
