PTPTN loan repayments exempted from GST
If the payments are made via Internet banking or outside the PTPTN branch network, additional charges are subject to conditions imposed by the financial institutions concerned
National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) loan repayments are exempted from the Good and Services Tax (GST) if paid at payment kiosks or PTPTN branches, said PTPTN chairman Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
"However, if the payments are made via Internet banking or outside the PTPTN branch network, additional charges are subject to conditions imposed by the financial institutions concerned," he told reporters after launching Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN-i) Lucky Draw programme for 2015 here on Thursday.
Also present were Deputy Education Minister P. Kamalanathan and PTPTN chief executive Agos Cholan.
In Kuala Nerus, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif urged the people to give the government room to implement the GST and not be quick to stage protests.
"Obviously if 160 countries have the GST, it must be something good. It is not only good for the government but will also benefit the people," he told reporters.
