Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua has been urged to carry out his responsibilities as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to investigate the setting up of the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG).
UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said Pua, who had been vocal at national level on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) should conduct a similar probe into the DIEG case.
"I am confident he will look into the matter as it involves RM30.3 billion," he told reporters.
Reezal, who is foreign deputy minister said the investigation was important, especially to Selangor residents as it involved the investments and funds of the state.
"I hope they will reveal the transparency and honesty of the state government in managing the fund," he said.
Last week, several Selangor state assemblymen, including former menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim expressed reservations over the transparency in setting up DEIG which would take over the roles of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) in managing subsidiaries under the incorporated body.
Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, in clarifying the issue at the state assembly was reported as saying DEIG, which is wholly-owned by MBI was set up last December to focus on MBI's investments, assets and businesses.
Earlier, Reezal sent the first batch of 277 haj pilgrims from Penang to Makkah at the Tabung Haji Hotel here.
