Public can pay last respects to Perak Sultan from 9am, Thursday
Perak Sultan, Sultan Azlan Shah, 86, passed away at 1.30pm on Wednesday.
The public can pay their last respects to the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah between 9am and 11.30am on Thursday at the Balairong Seri (Throne Room), Istana Iskandariah in Bukit Chandan, here.
According to a statement issued by the Perak State Secretariat Wednesday night, the second group of people paying their last respects from 11.45am until 1.15pm will be VIPs, ministers, deputy ministers, menteri besar, chief ministers and foreign envoys.
This will be followed by the Malay rulers, Yang Dipertua Negeri, heads of state and heads of government between 1.30pm and 2.15pm.
The ceremony to appoint and proclaim the new sultan will be held at 2.30pm at the Balairong Seri before Sultan Azlan Shah is laid to rest at the royal mausoleum, which is next to Masjid Ubudiah, here, after Asar prayers.
Sultan Azlan Shah had ruled Perak for three decades since he was installed as the ruler on February 3, 1984.
