KUALA LUMPUR: "The public doesn't like us right now".
That was stated by UMNO Information Chief, Shahril Hamdan who thought that the people did not like the current political situation, especially after the drastic spike in COVID-19 cases.
In fact, Shahril also stated there was a possibility that the people blame politicians at this time which caused the infection to increase.
"Now the people do not see us (politicians) as agents or entities that help in the current situation (transmission of COVID-19).
"In fact, among the sentiments of the people, they consider politicians to be the cause of the increase in infection.
"It is too complicated to study in more depth on the cause of the increase in infection at this time and the fact is that we need to realise that politicians are being watched by the people," he said in Agenda AWANI on Thursday.
Therefore, Shahril called on politicians to put the health interests of the people of this country as the priority compared to political interests, especially after the Sabah State Election (PRN) and ahead of the General Election.
At the same time, Shahril personally thinks there was no need to hold a GE in the near future, especially when the country was still fighting COVID-19 as it will have a long-term impact on the people.
