Public servants encouraged to work from home, practise flexi work schedule

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said meetings were also encouraged to be held online besides using a safe medium.

"For those who have difficulty caring for the children at home, the government is allowing workers to rotate apart from employers carrying out flexi working time.

"I would like all heads of departments to hold discussions at their respective departments to restructure the human resource needs of the department by prioritising the concept of working from home," he said in a Special Message in conjunction with Labour Day here today.

Muhyiddin said although the economic sector was set to open on May 4, employers were also suggested to encourage workers to work from home.

“It may be possible to arrange a workday schedule alternately. Today go into the office, tomorrow work from home.

“I think this can also solve the problem of childcare. Although childcare centres will be opened by adopting specific health SOPs, I know many parents who are worried about sending their children.

"So, if an employer can provide some flexibility to couples who work to come to work on an alternate basis, this can help resolve childcare issues," he said.
