Public transport services extended, main roads closed for VMY 2014

LRT, monorail and RapidKL bus services in the city will be extended up to 1am Sunday, in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 (VMY 2014) official launch at Dataran Merdeka this Saturday.
The LRT stations involved are Masjid Jamek and Hang Tuah, while for monorail services, the stations involved are Medan Tuanku and Titiwangsa.
RapidKL bus services will be extended for another half an hour after the last train reaches its station.
RapidKL routes:
1. U64 (Taman Sri Muda-Pasar Seni Hub (PSH),
2. U66 (Taman Medan-PSH),
3. U68 (Sri Manja/Sentosa-PSH),
4. U70 (Puchong Prima-PSH),
5. U88 (Kota Damansara-PSH),
6. U22 (Sri Nilam-Jalan Hang Lekiu),
7. U40 (Terminal Kajang-Mydin Sinar Kota, Jalan Tun Perak),
8. U23 (Taman Melawati-Lebuh Ampang via Mindef),
9. U224 (Bandar Dato' Senu-Kotaraya) and
10. U66 (Taman Jasa Utama-Medan Pasar).
Kuala Lumpur police said, several roads will also be closed from Thursday until January 5 due to the same event.
The roads involved are:
1. Jalan Raja (in front of Sultan Abdul Samad building)
2. Jalan Tun Perak junction, Jalan Raja (towards Jalan Raja)
Meanwhile, three other roads in KL that will also be affected are:
1. Jalan Leboh Pasar Besar (towards Jalan Sultan Hishammuddin),
2. Jalan Gereja
3. Jalan Mahkamah Persekutuan (behind Sultan Abdul Samad building)
Police are urging the public to plan their trip and to adhere to detour signs.
Themed 'Celebrating 1Malaysia, Truly Asia' VMY 2014 is targeting RM76billion receipts from 28 million tourists in the country.
VMY 2014 is the fourth edition after three similar celebrations in 1990, 1994 and 2007 where it had chosen the monkey from the Proboscis species as its mascot.
