RAZALI: Conspiring with the enemy does not make us as a hero
The people should leave it to the authorities to handle the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue as it involves the dignity of the country and not the political party in power, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Razali Ibrahim.
He said the country had a transparent legal system to investigate the parties involved in the issue.
"Conspiring with the enemy does not make us as a hero," he told reporters after officiating the Kota Melaka Puteri UMNO meeting here, Saturday.
He said this when asked to comment on allegations made by former PetroSaudi International Ltd. (PetroSaudi) executive Andre Justo Xavier, who was recently arrested by Thai police for allegedly trying to blackmail his former employer.
In an exclusive interview with The Straits Times of Singapore at the Thai prison he is being held recently, Justo claimed he had agreed to sell confidential information stolen from his former employer to the founder of Sarawak Report, Clare Rewcastle-Brown, and a Malaysian businessman who allegedly planned to modify the information in an attempt to topple the government.
Elaborating further, Razali said Justo's expose should be accepted by people while waiting for the outcome of further investigations conducted by the authorities on 1MDB.
"It is hoped that this disclosure is not regarded as a ploy," he said.
