The second suspect in the viral rape and robbery at an illegal gambling den in Bukit Kinrara died after accidentally falling from the 12th floor of PPR Seri Semarak, Jalan Rejang, Taman Setapak, yesterday night.
According to Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias, the incident happened when the suspect was trying to evade the police, in a raid in a unit in the apartments around 10.10 pm.
“The team knocked on the door several times and identified themselves as police but the occupants refused to open the door.
“The team then cut the padlock and broke down the door. Upon entering the house, a man and a woman were seen in the living room.
“The team then heard the sound of some objects dropping in the kitchen area and went to check. They found the suspect clinging to the grille outside the kitchen, with the intention of escaping to the unit below the house.
“The team of policemen tried to persuade the man to come back inside but he refused,” he said in a media statement.
He said, out of a sudden, the man slipped and fell to the ground and when the policemen went to check on him, the man was lying on the ground but still alive.
“The police called the ambulance and it arrived within 30 minutes and took the man to Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
“The man was pronounced dead in the hospital, by a medical officer,” he said.
He added that checks revealed the suspect has prior drugs-related offences and the case has been classified as sudden death.
On May 13, a video depicting two men robbing the gambling den in Puchong before taking turns to rape a worker in the premise, went viral in the social media.
Following the incident, one of the suspects aged 26, was detained in Kuala Selangor on Sunday.
Last Tuesday, an Indonedian woman,33, and a Bangladeshi,34, man, both victims of the case, came forward and lodged a police report at the Serdang district police headquarters.
