Pulau Ligitan kidnapping: We are still investigating, police say
No ransom demand was made, he added.
Police are still waiting for the full report on the group of men who kidnapped four Malaysians in the waters off Pulau Ligitan, Semporna last Friday.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun said until today, no one had claimed responsibility for the incident.
No ransom demand was made, he added.
“We are also investigating reports that the Abu Sayyaf militant group is behind the kidnapping,” he said at the police headquarters today.
"We hope they are fine and unharmed. Police are still trying to identify their location as soon as possible,” he said.

He said police are also investigating if the kidnappers are the same group of people who kidnapped 10 Indonesian togboat crew members at Tawi-Tawi, near the Philippines on March 26.
In the incident at 6.15pm, four Malaysians from Sarawak were kidnapped by eight armed men while travelling on a tug boat from Manila to Malaysia.
The Malaysians are Wong Teck Kang, 31, Wong Hung Sing, 34, Wong Teck Chii, 29, and Johnny Lau Jung Hien, 21.
Following the incident, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak had called on the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom) to enhance and strengthen its intelligence work to obtain the latest information on the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).
He said this was vital to ensure the level of security in Sabah was constantly high, thereby preventing any untoward incidents.
