Puteri Umno raps Abdul Hadi for calling MCA, MIC racist
Puteri Umno yesterday rapped Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang for accusing Barisan Nasional's (BN) component parties, MCA and MIC, as being racist.
Its chief, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin, said Abdul Hadi's statement reflected his narrow-minded and fondness for political slander.
"His statement proved that opposition leaders in the country are fond of spreading lies even though they are aware that it is wrong and sinful.
"It is very disappointing because while BN component parties are doing their level best for the people, the opposition are working hard to twist the facts," she said.
Rosnah was commenting on Abdul Hadi's speech at an opposition-organised gathering in Seremban last night in which he allegedly described MCA and MIC as racist because their memberships consisted of just one race, while the opposition parties, including the DAP, were multi-racial.
Rosnah also reminded the people not to be influenced by the opposition's claims without considering the efforts done by the government in their interest.
"We must not destroy the unity we enjoy today. To destroy it is so easy, but to build it takes a very long time," she said.
She also stressed that the opposition had no qualms about letting the country plunge into chaos and using slanderous politics to pursue their dreams to be in power.
Rosnah also reminded the people to learn from former DAP national vice president Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim who said that joining the party was his biggest mistake as he had been misled into believing that the party was fighting for the interest of all the races.
