To curb robberies in the vicinity of the government administrative centre, the police have set up three special teams to conduct raids and patrols.
District police chief ACP Rosly Hassan said each team comprised two personnel and they would focus on housing areas in Precinct 10 and 15, which lately, had been targetted by robbers.
"These areas have become the target because they are near forests and hills, so it is easier for the robbers to escape after committing the crime," he said.
Rosly was speaking to reporters after attending the Putrajaya Police Headquarters' Media and Community Shooting Competition here on Friday.
Early Wednesday morning, a married couple was traumatised for about 40 minutes when four masked robbers armed with knives broke into their home in Precinct 15 here.
The robbers, believed to have been active in areas such as Kuala Lumpur, Kajang and Bangi escaped with RM3,000, jewellery, branded watches and four mobile phones worth a total of RM15,000.
At the competition, Bernama journalist Rosmalis Anuar and photographer Harry Salzman Abu Bakar won the second and third place, respectively, in the media category.
The winner was Kosmo! journalist Mohd Turmadzi Madun.
About 70 people participated in the competition.
