Magic of the Night 2014
For nine evenings, the Putrajaya Lake, here, will be transformed into a mesmerizing colourful wonder, with a parade of lighted boats floating across the lake at Marina Putrajaya for spectators to feast their eyes on.
This is especially for the Magic of the Night 2014 event that has been organized for four consecutive years, in our very own Putrajaya. It is one of the signature events by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, to promote the glorious diversities of nature, culture and traditions of the country.
The theme for this year, “Colours of Harmony” is reflected into each of the 15 flotillas taking part in the event where they are all decorated in colourful lights and beautiful sculptures of Malaysia’s most famous attractions.
What more, with a backdrop of the architectural Marina Putrajaya, one is set to be mesmerized from the very beginning.
Taking part in Magic of the Night 2014 are state governments of Perlis, Kedah, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, Selangor, Penang, and Kelantan, along with Putrajaya Holdings, Tourism Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur City Hall. They will be vying for the titles of Overall Best Boat, Most Creative Boat, Most Popular Boat (public voting) and Best Lighted Boat.
To add to the merriment are craft and art exhibitions, Fabulous Food promotions, Meet Upin & Ipin Live, Night Floral Boats Photography Contest, 1Malaysia Green and Clean Campaign, Visual Art Gallery, musical performances by Malaysia's hottest artistes and a fireworks display to light up the sky every night.
The event was launched by Y.B Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Bin Tengku Mansor, Minister of Federal Territories on June 14, 2014.
As part of the promotion of Malaysia for Visit Malaysia Year 2014, some 145 international media and travel agents from 15 countries have been invited to attend the event as well. They are here to learn about Malaysia’s tourism events and attractions and help package and promote Malaysia in their respective countries.
To those of you looking for a different kind of outdoor activity, head on to Putrajaya for the Magic of the Night 2014 festivity, which is scheduled to start from 2.00pm until 11.30pm every day until June 22, 2014. Don’t worry, admission is free.
