SETIU:Being disabled did not hinder Muhammad Firdaus Razami from Kampung Banggol here from ensuring that 25 of his sheep were not deprived of food during this flood season.
It is not an easy task for the 25-year-old man who has become a person with disabilities (PwD) for the past nine years following a motorcycle accident that left his right hand permanently disabled with weak bones but this did not deter him from wading through the flood waters to feed his sheep.
For Muhammad whenever floods hit his home, which is located one kilometre away from the road, in Kampung Banggol, he will worry not only about feeding but also saving his livestock in the event the sheep farm is flooded.
"The pen is built outside the house and I have to check on it regularly when the area is flooded to monitor the water level.
Muhammad Firdaus said if the water level rises, he needs to move his livestock to a safer place.
"Evacuating these sheep is a difficult task and I have to act fast with the help of my siblings.
"This involves taking them one at a time to a higher ground in a canoe. Alhamdulillah (all praises to Allah) the water did not rise this time," he said.
"However, when the path to the farm is flooded I have to wade through flood waters to feed the sheep," he told Bernama when met here.
He also owns other livestock such as cows and horses that need to be protected from the flood.
