The operator's license as well as 26 bus permits held by Qistna Express Sdn Bhd will be suspended with immediate effect, said Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar.
He said the suspension would be for a one-month period from today until Aug 13.
"The suspension is due to the company's failure to adhere to SPAD Industrial Code of Practice or ICOP Safety and other requirements of the bus operator's license.
"Following this suspension, tickets which have been purchased will be refunded or passengers will be transferred to other bus companies," he told a press conference here today.
He said the Integrated Transport Terminal (TBS) would assist in transferring Qistna Express bus passengers to other bus operating companies.
According to Syed Hamid, SPAD would continue to work with other enforcement agencies, including the police and the Road Transport Department, to ensure all buses were in good condition and that bus operators observed all traffic and safety rules.
Meanwhile, checks by Bernama at the TBS found the notice of suspension of Qistna Express Sdn Bhd bus service had been pasted on the walls around the bus terminal.
SPAD officials had also informed that sale of the company's bus tickets had ceased since Thursday evening.
