The government has assured that no additional charges will be imposed on quarantined patients in hotels across the country.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob asserted this on the issue that social media claimed that some hotels did not agree with the RM150 daily rate set by the government.
According to him, the government and the management of the gazetted hotels had all agreed to the rate.
"It has been claimed that the RM150 was causing concern to the families of those quarantined, that they may have to pay more.
"The news is completely untrue. As I have explained, the hotels which are listed as quarantine centres and have been gazetted have reached an agreement on the rate.
"So, it does not arise that patients will be charged more as the rate has been agreed. It means there are no issues arising and the hotels were informed about this," he told a media conference in Putrajaya on Wednesday.
The rate of RM150, Ismail said, was for daily room use, food and beverage payments and the government would cover the cost.
The government, he said, has always wanted to ensure that every quarantined person in the country has the best facilities during the quarantine period.
To date, 112 hotels across the country have been gazetted as quarantine centres.
