Preliminary forensic examinations at the Bhayangkara Hospital, 40km from here, found the intact bodies of a man and a woman from the AirAsia Indonesia flight QZ8501.

Head of the East Java DVI Unit, chief commissioner Budiyono said, however, the two bodies, would undergo post-mortem and identification.

"Further information on the identities, such as age, cannot be obtained yet as the bodies were only received this evening (Wednesday). We need time to get the identities of the bodies.

"Our team is working hard," he told a press conference at the hospital compound late Wednesday evening adding that various experts such as pathologist, DNA and orthodontology (dental) involved in the post-mortem would follow the stipulated standard operating procedure.

It is learnt that about 20 doctors and post-mortem specialists were prepared to carry out their duties which is expected to start as soon as possible and be completed in 24 to 48 hours.

He also hoped to be able to determine the identities of the two bodies quickly such as by comparing teeth and bones samples of the corpses with the data of next-of-kin and families in their record.

But all results and 'everything' depended on the speed of the post-mortem report, he said.

It was reported that six bodies, three men and three women, including a flight crew, were still in the process of being lifted out by the search and rescue team at Pangkalan Bun, Kalimantan Tengah, an hour's flight from here.
