QZ8501: Two more bodies and pieces of aircraft brought to Pangkalan Bun

Two more bodies of the AirAsia’s QZ8501 crash victims and pieces of aircraft were brought to Udara Iskandar Airport, Pangkalan Bun, Kalimantan today at 7.50 am.

Both the bodies and the aircraft pieces were brought using the Skuadron TNI helicopter from the search area.

The two bodies, identified as females, were found by two separate ships involved in the SAR operations.

Of the bodies found so far, eight have been flown out to Surabaya from Pengkalan Bun in Central Kalimantan, the area where the bodies were transferred to after they were fished out from the sea.

The first body of victims in the ill-fated plane identified was that of Hayati Lutfiah Hamid, from Sidoarjo, Surabaya.

Flight QZ8501had departed the Juanda Airport in Surabaya at 5.25am on Sunday and was scheduled to land at the Changi Airport in Singapore at 8.30am (Malaysian time) on the same day.

The last contact between the plane and the Jakarta air traffic control was at 7.12am Malaysian time.

Passengers on the flight comprised 149 Indonesians, three South Koreans, a Singaporean, a Malaysian and a Briton. The crew comprised six Indonesians and a Frenchman.
