All representatives of political parties have unanimously agreed to ensure that words filled with sedition, racism, provocation and sexism will no longer be used in the Dewan Rakyat.
The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said the agreement was reached in a meeting with Members of Parliament (MPs) on Monday.
"All party representatives unanimously renewed their commitment to uphold the rules from the proceedings of the Dewan Rakyat in ensuring that words filled with sedition, racism, provocation and sexism are not used by any of the Honorable Members.
"So, it is hoped that all the Honorable Members will also give the same commitment to ensure the quality and civilized running of the Dewan," he said before the Second Meeting of the 14th Parliamentary Assembly of the Dewan Rakyat here on Monday.
In this regard, Azhar said he and the Deputy Speakers will take action based on the ruling from the proceedings of the Dewan Rakyat if these words are still heard after this.
"I also remind you that this civility is a huge responsibility in that it is the hope of the people to all of us.
"The people hope that their problems and grievances are discussed in the Dewan and solutions can be found," he said.
