Rafizi urges Adam Rosly to declare his assets

The Pandan MP said filing a report to the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) could create more polemics and the best way to address the problem is by declaring his wealth.

"I will declare my assets next Tuesday or Wednesday. It will be easier if Adam declares his soon."

"Once you have shown that you are transparent and have nothing to hide, I think the (accusations) will stop. Otherwise, Jamal would continue to go on his helicopter ride," he said in reference to the Sungai Besar UMNO chief, who flew over Adam’s house on Tuesday in a helicopter, demanding the youth leader to explain about his wealth.

Declaring one's assets, according to Rafizi, is the most effective way to prove there's nothing to hide, adding that the method had worked when he took up Cheras UMNO chief Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee's challenge to do so.

"We need to be transparent when faced with accusations. I did the same last year when I was challenged by Syed Ali. I declared my assets and he went quiet for a while," he said.

Rafizi also adviced all top politicians, government officers and civil servants to do the same.

When asked if Adam had amassed his wealth from his successful business ventures, Rafizi said he does not know the 28-year-old well as he is a newcomer in PKR.

"I don't know him well because he is new in the party, after joining PAS prior to this. I think you should ask YB Zuraida," he said in reference to Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Rafizi also hoped that the police and MACC would not be burdened by Adam's case so that they can focus on bigger and more important cases.

"It saves the police and MACC time. They should focus on (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Najib Razak instead. Do not allow diversions," he said.

UMNO division leaders had called for MACC to investigate Adam for owning a RM7 million bungalow and a fleet of luxury cars.
