Rahim Thamby Chik fined RM1,900 over apostate posting on Facebook
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Former Malacca chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik was fined RM 1,900 in default three months imprisonment by the Shah Alam Sessions Court today for alleging the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah had converted to Christianity,
Abdul Rahim, 65, was charged with posting the seditious remark on his Facebook account 'Rahim TambyChik' at Jalan Permata 7/1, Section 7 here, at about 8 am on Sept 25, last year.
He pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 233 (1) (a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
He paid the fine and also tendered a public apology to Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Amir. READ: Rahim Thamby Chik's sedition case set for Jan 5 mention

DPP Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar and DPP Afzainizam Abdul Aziz prosecuted while counsel Datuk Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin represented Abdul Rahim.
Lawyer Datuk Salehuddin Saidin held a watching brief for Istana Selangor.
Last Sept 30, the Selangor Royal Council had issued a statement strongly denying that Tengku Amir Shah had allegedly converted.
