Although no date has been set yet for the debate between Barisan Nasional strategic communications director Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, but that doesn't stop them from exchanging blows on Twitter.
Lim expressed his frustration over Abdul Rahman’s decision to go overseas til April 15, as the latter was suppose to face him in a debate on the Taman Manggis land issue.
“I am going overseas tonight. Back by 15th. My trip was organized long time ago. Debate after the trip,” Abdul Rahman tweeted Friday night.
“Does @mpkotabelud (Abdul Rahman) want to debate me overseas? Where? Come back lah! If I can cancel official China trip and rush back to face you in Parliament, why can’t you,” asked Lim.
Abdul Rahman, who is also the Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister responded, “When did you face me? The fact is you desperately wanted (the) Speaker to eject you from Parliament. I was ready for you!”
Lim also questioned the decision to postpone the debate since Abdul Rahman was the one who came up with the challenge, mentioning his willingness to cut short his trip to China.
Abdul Rahman challenged Lim for a debate on the Taman Manggis land issues, which he claims that Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre (KLIDC) Sdn Bhd had sold the land shares to a third party.
The land at Penang's Taman Manggis had initially been gazetted by the state government to build affordable houses, but the plan for PPRT was replaced with a proposal for a mixed development project in 2005.
