Farmers in Sabah have the capabilities to earn higher income with the assistance of the State Farmers' Organisation, says the Adviser to the Government for Social and Cultural Affairs Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.
He said the State Farmers' Organisation played an important role in ensuring that agricultural activities continue to be relevant and remain a major contributor to the country's economy.
The agriculture sector is important in our life. We must turn the agriculture industry as a profitable way of life," he told reporters when met after opening the organisation's 26th annual general meeting here today.
The former minister of information, communication and culture hoped that the farming community in Sabah would continue to use the agriculture resources in the state to further develop the agriculture and plantation sectors.
The 55,000-strong Sabah Farmers' Organisation, comprising 25 Area Farmers' Associations, posted a RM700,000 profit last year.
